The real world

I was tallying up the number of times Houdini had thrown up in the last four months and noting the frequency--he went off one of his medications and we need to see if it had drastically increased that number, if it was holding, steady, if it was increasing steadily, etc. This is how we are different from other families I know, who have toddlers: the grand total was 23 times (5/5/7/6) and to us, that is still on the right side of normal. To us.

It's not that I've become complacent with his challenges or that I don't feel a gut wrench everytime he makes a beeline for the bathroom. It's just that my expectations of what our day to day life will be have finally been realigned to our reality and you know, the real world isn't too bad, after all.
