and it's been a good one, tempered with the overhanging shadow of my mom's treatments. Still, it's been good; actually very good, because it was just another day, with different [ly better] sequence of events. I took the day off work and slept in until about 9:30AM. Got up, took an extra long, extra luxurious (read: used my neglected Lush and otherwise smelly but in a yummy way products), and went downstairs to join the guys. Had really good coffee, played with Houdini, went to Trader Joe's en famille, came back and had lunch. More playtime, then a little me time, then more playtime and another en famille trip, this time to Whole Foods, where we shopped, had gelati, shopped some more, and ate dinner, plus a vegan birthday cupcake for me (I freaking love their vegan cupcakes and brownies; not so much the regular ones. Go figure.) Came home, gave Houdini a bath and put him to bed, where he is listening to Lisa Loeb singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and keeping resolutely awake by reading the time off the projected clock display on his wall.
Oh yeah, and he threw up in bed--before the bath, so it was good timing, at least. I'd move his barf bowl, otherwise we wouldn't have even needed to change the sheets; he's very good at knowing that he is about to throw up and doing so in the bowls we have strategically placed around the main areas he hangs out.

Lest it seem I am very blase about his throwing up, let's just say I am more realistic about it after all this time. And that I know when we are setting ourselves up for it: he had grapes earlier this evening, because we thought what the heck, it's been a few months, let's give it a try. Turns out it's still not on his stomach's approved list of items to digest. So we wait and try again in a few months. I am probably going to make an appointment for him, because he's been throwing up a bit more frequently the last 2-3 weeks, than the last few months and while I think it's the hear and summer--summer has always been his worst season--it's probably a good idea to do so. After all, while we haven't been living under red alert for quite some time, and have even made it all the way to yellow, there's no denying that we have to be on top of it if we want to stay there. We're very lucky that we can not only say that, but actually be able to act on it now and it would be colossally stupid and negligent of us to forget the reality of what is. Not that we ever do, not that we ever will, but it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves again.

There you go: a Houdini digestive system update to wrap up the review of the day's events. Like I said, just another normal day!
